7 Day Trips to Take from Phoenix
/I can’t believe the holiday season is already upon us! Along with all the holiday celebrations, you may also be finding yourself with time off of work or with kids out of school. Whether you’re looking for something new to do, or wanting to revisit an old favorite, there is no shortage of day trips to take from Phoenix. Here are some of my top ideas for day trips from Phoenix.
Day Trips to Take From Phoenix
Grand Canyon
One of the wonders of the world, this is a tried and true favorite. If you want to see it a different way, try the train tour or plan a full-day guided tour. While it is a longer trip from Phoenix, it is definitely worth it, or make a long weekend out of it!
Sedona
Couldn’t leave this one off the list! It is one of the most beautiful places in Arizona and there’s something to do for everyone. Thrill seekers can check out the Pink Jeep Tours. There’s also no shortage of hikes to do, ranging from beginner to advanced. This area is also popular for arts and culture. From indoor galleries to an outdoor art walk, there is an abundance of things to discover in Sedona.
Prescott
Another fun option is Prescott. From hiking to rock climbing, there is plenty to do outdoors for a day trip. If it’s warm enough you can boat, rent a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard. Adults may like to sample some of Arizona’s unique wineries or take a stroll down Whiskey Row. From candy shops to old-west-style saloons, get a sense of the gold rush from over a century ago.
Montezuma Castle National Monument
Located in Camp Verde, AZ this national monument allows visitors to explore the pueblo ruins and various archaeological sites, hike the trails at Montezuma Well, and enjoy ranger talks.
Tucson
Tucson is another place to check out that has something for everyone. From golfing to shopping or even horseback riding in the desert. You can also catch some live music on 4th Avenue. Have a space fanatic? Stop by the Pima Air & Space Museum while you are there.
Jerome
Fan of spooky season? This town is for you. A former copper mining town built into the mountainside just west of Sedona, there’s a ton of history in this old community. Enjoy a ghost tour, day trip full of history, museums, restaurants, and art.
Tortilla Flat
Arizona may not have an ocean, but this desert state boasts several impressive waterways. Colorful Canyon Lake winds through the scenic Superstition Mountains and is where you can find the Dolly Steamboat, offering scenic sightseeing tours and dinner cruises.
