December 2019 Faves
/I’m starting a new thing where I blog at the end of each month about anything I’m currently obsessing over. I love reading these types of blog posts from other people and discovering new things, so I hope you get the same inspiration from these posts. Here’s what I’ve been into this month:
1. Spanx High Waisted Faux Leather Leggings
I’m going to try my hardest to get away with wearing leggings in public as much as possible with these leggings. Holy crap, you guys. These are so stylish. They take an outfit from 0 to 100. I’m 5’4” and typically a medium in bottoms, and I ordered the petite medium in these. You kinda have to do the pants dance with this material, so I’m glad I didn’t get the small.
2. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Face Moisturizer
I don’t know about you, but once December came, the humidity in our house peaced the f out. I wish I could bathe in this stuff. I’ve been loyal to this moisturizer the last two winters and it hasn’t failed me. This is also coming from the chick who’s dropped anywhere from $10-100 on a single beauty product. I’m not afraid to pay a little extra if a product actually works, and thankfully you don’t have to break the bank to get results from this moisturizer.
I made mental health a priority this month because I knew the craziness of the holidays could easily overwhelm me. I meditated more than I have in recent months and felt a positive shift in my overall wellness. I love this free app to get started if you’re not sure how to get into a meditation groove.
4. Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen
I’m really into calligraphy, it’s one of my favorite creative hobbies. I addressed all of our Christmas cards using this brush pen. It’s perfect for beginners who want to learn hand-lettering. If you’re not sure where to get started, I created a brush pen practice worksheet that you can find here in my Etsy shop. The key is to press harder on your downstrokes and go lighter on your upstrokes.
5. No7 High Shine Lip Gloss in Roaring Red
I’m loyal to my neutral nudes year round but this time of year I do find myself wanting to doctor it up a little bit. I have a few different red lipsticks and stains that I love, but this stuff is surprisingly low maintenance. I always find myself having to reapply or worry about the smudge factor when you’re out to eat with a red lip. That wasn’t the case with this, because it’s a gloss.
6. Riverdale
I am so into this show, you guys. It’s like a teen-drama/mystery series based off of the Archie comics.
7. Steve Madden Rookie Bootie in Natural Snake Print
Let me introduce you to the boots I’ve been living in for the past two months. Anytime I have to dress up, these are on my feet. Size up, they run a little bit small.
I’m including this because ever since the cold weather hit and we put this on Leo when we go out, I get compliments everywhere we go. It’s fleece-lined and looks super cute on him.
This is another one of my favorite forms of winter self-care. If you’re like me and love the idea of going to the sauna and/or getting a facial but you don’t have the time or mula, you need this. It’s like having a mini-spa at home.
