Back that thang up
Ok so here’s the deal:
22% of hard drives fail after four years
1-10 years = the average lifespan of a flash drive
Da funk? It’s all good though, I got you. Here’s my recommended backup plan:
1. Download your entire gallery to at least one of your own hard drives, aka your computer or laptop.
2. Download your entire gallery to a portable hard drive. If you want extra credit, download to a second portable hard drive to keep at a friend or relative’s house.
3. Upload your entire gallery to an off-site cloud service such as Apple iCloud, Google Photos, Dropbox, etc.
4. Print your dang photos! Backing up your digital images is crucial, and yet it's also important to remember that hard drives don’t last forever. I want you to also have physical copies of your photos, either printed or in an heirloom album that is meant to last for a very long time!
5. When the time comes and you’ve found that one of your hard drives has failed, replace it so that by the time the next one fails, you’ll still have plenty of copies!
